Kia EV2 Redefines Compact EV Efficiency
Kia's latest compact electric SUV, the EV2, is making waves in the European market by demonstrating exceptional real-world efficiency. Despite its smaller stature, positioned below the popular EV3, the EV2 has significantly outperformed its official range estimates in rigorous independent testing, proving that big performance can come in a smaller package.
During the recent Summer El Prix EV test, conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor Magazine, the Kia EV2 standard range model, equipped with a 42.2 kWh battery, achieved an impressive 325 km (201 miles) on a single charge. This figure remarkably surpasses its official WLTP rating of 308 km (191 miles) by over 5%, securing its position as a class leader in real-world efficiency among compact and mid-size EVs.
A long-range EV2 GT-Line prototype also showcased robust performance, covering 428 km (265 miles), exceeding its expected WLTP figure. With an average energy consumption of just 12.4 kWh/100 km, the EV2 underscores Kia's commitment to delivering practical, dependable electric mobility. Available now in Europe and the UK, with pricing starting around €26,600, the EV2 offers up to 453 km (281 miles) WLTP with its larger 61 kWh battery option.
