Ferrari has pulled back the curtain on the Luce in Rome, completing a multi-stage reveal of a vehicle that challenges nearly every preconception of what a Ferrari can be. This isn't just the brand's first all-electric car; it's also Maranello's debut five-seater and a distinct departure from traditional Ferrari body styles, blurring lines in a bold, new form factor.
Design That Divides, Interior That Delights
Co-designed with Jony Ive's LoveFrom, the Luce's exterior is designed to be polarizing. Its front is dominated by a racing-derived S-duct, creating an illusion of a shorter overhang, while a two-tone design flows seamlessly from front to rear. However, it's the interior where LoveFrom's influence truly shines. It features exquisite, minimalist design with tactile controls machined from single pieces of metal, a stunning steering wheel crafted from recycled aluminum, and custom OLED displays. This cockpit experience emphasizes driver engagement through physical interaction, offering a refreshing counterpoint to screen-heavy modern vehicles.
Electrifying Performance and Authentic Sound
Beneath its revolutionary shell, the Luce houses a bespoke platform with a 122 kWh battery and four permanent magnet synchronous motors delivering a staggering 1,050 horsepower. This powerhouse propels the Luce from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, boasts a top speed of 310 km/h, and offers over 530 km of range. Its 800V architecture supports rapid 350 kW charging. Perhaps most innovative is its optional sound system, which doesn't generate artificial noise but amplifies the actual vibrations of its electric components, offering a real, resonant connection to the machine.
