A new development in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology has introduced a drone capable of spinning at such high speeds that it effectively disappears from sight. By rotating 25 times per second, the aircraft becomes a vague blur, making it significantly harder for the human eye and traditional optical sensors to track.
Visual Stealth Through Motion
The concept relies on the principle of persistence of vision. At 25 rotations per second, the physical frame of the drone moves faster than the eye can process, creating a transparency effect. This unique approach to stealth focuses on visual camouflage without the need for complex light-bending materials or expensive coatings.
The Acoustic Trade-off
Despite its visual success, the creators of the drone acknowledge a significant limitation: noise. The high-speed rotation required to achieve visual invisibility generates a distinct sound, meaning that while the drone may be difficult to see, it remains easy to hear. Future iterations may need to address acoustic signatures to achieve full multi-sensory stealth.
