VinFast's Silent Revolution: One Million Electric Scooters and Counting
Vietnamese automaker VinFast, recognized in Western markets for its push into electric SUVs, has just achieved a monumental milestone in a different corner of the EV world: the production of its one millionth electric two-wheeler. This achievement, marked by a red Feliz II electric scooter rolling off the Hai Phong assembly line, underscores VinFast's dominant, yet often overlooked, presence in Asia's booming e-mobility sector.
Unlike the car segment, VinFast has been a powerhouse in electric scooters and motorcycles for years. Launched in late 2018 with the Klara, their lineup now spans nearly 15 model families and over 30 variants, catering to diverse urban commuting needs. A key to their success lies in a robust battery strategy, including swappable battery systems for models like the Feliz II. This approach, which allows riders to quickly exchange depleted batteries for charged ones at dedicated stations, is particularly effective in densely populated Asian cities where home charging can be a challenge.
The company's scale is impressive, having sold over 406,000 electric motorcycles in 2025 alone, supported by nearly 750 dealerships across Vietnam. VinFast is also rapidly expanding its manufacturing capacity and market reach into countries like Indonesia, India, and the Philippines, proving that while the West debates electric motorcycles, Asia has already embraced them as a daily reality.
