At the prestigious IAA Transportation event in Hanover, Zerova made a bold move toward the future of logistics by unveiling its new Megawatt Charging System (MCS) dispenser for the European market. Designed specifically to meet the high-energy demands of electric trucks and long-distance buses, the system is capable of delivering up to 1,440 kW of power. This leap in capacity is a critical milestone for the industry, as logistics companies look to transition their heavy fleets away from fossil fuels while maintaining the strict delivery schedules that modern supply chains demand.
The infrastructure is built upon Zerova’s proven power cabinet technologies, the DO360 and the DZ480. By utilizing a satellite-based architecture, the power electronics are effectively decoupled from the actual charging interface. This separation allows for greater site flexibility, whether in confined depot environments or expansive, high-traffic charging hubs located along major logistics corridors. With liquid-cooled cables offered in five and seven-meter configurations, the system is engineered to handle the immense heat generated by such rapid energy transfer, ensuring longevity and safety during intensive daily use.
Technical Specifications and Flexibility
Flexibility is at the heart of the Zerova MCS platform. The system supports output voltages ranging from 150 V to 950 V DC for the DO360 unit, and 200 V to 950 V DC for the DZ480. While the primary highlight is the 1,500-amp, 1,440-kW capacity provided by the MCS interface, the dispenser also offers modularity for CCS integration, allowing operators to support a broader mix of vehicle types during the transitional period as the industry fully migrates to the MCS standard.
The user experience is managed via an integrated 10.4-inch touchscreen, providing clear operational feedback. To accommodate the fast-paced nature of commercial fleet management, Zerova has included diverse authorization methods, including RFID, QR codes, and the increasingly popular Plug & Charge protocol. Furthermore, the unit features an optional credit card terminal for public-facing charging sites, ensuring compatibility with varied payment ecosystems. Backend integration is fully supported through OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1, making the hardware easily digestible for existing fleet management software.
