1. The 2027 Lexus NX 450h+ Plug-In Hybrid
The 2027 Lexus NX 450h+ is receiving a significant technical overhaul, signaling a strategic shift for the brand as it moves away from internal combustion-only models. The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of a larger 22.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, replacing the previous 18.1 kWh unit. This enhancement boosts the manufacturer-estimated all-electric range to 45 miles—a meaningful eight-mile increase that caters to daily commuters looking to maximize EV-only travel.
Performance is equally bolstered, with the total system output climbing to 324 horsepower. This is achieved primarily through a upgraded front motor-generator, which now generates 203 horsepower, working in tandem with the 2.5-liter internal combustion engine and a dedicated rear electric motor. For charging, Lexus has integrated a native NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, allowing owners to tap into Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network. The crossover now supports DC fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes.
2. The 2027 Lexus NX 350h Hybrid
While the plug-in hybrid model grabs headlines for its fast-charging capabilities, the standard 2027 Lexus NX 350h hybrid also benefits from thoughtful refinements. Lexus has re-engineered the hybrid system to prioritize torque and responsiveness, leveraging the electric motor-generators more aggressively to provide a smoother, more engaging driving experience. While the 1.1 kWh battery remains unchanged from the previous iteration, total system power has been nudged upward to 244 horsepower.
The NX 350h will continue to be offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the AWD version offering slightly better off-the-line performance with a 0-60 mph time of 6.7 seconds. Beyond the powertrain, Lexus has invested heavily in the vehicle's driving dynamics, introducing revised suspension tuning, updated steering geometry, and increased chassis rigidity to ensure the 2027 model feels more composed and agile on the road.
3. Design, Interior, and Technology Updates
The 2027 refresh extends well beyond the drivetrain. The exterior styling has been modernized with a sharper front fascia, redesigned taillight signatures, and a shift toward black accents in place of traditional chrome, lending the NX a more contemporary aesthetic. The interior experience has been overhauled to focus on seamless digital integration, highlighted by a large 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a expansive 14-inch center infotainment display powered by Lexus’s most current software suite.
Ergonomics have also been a point of emphasis. The steering wheel diameter has been slightly reduced for a sportier feel, and the dashboard now features a sophisticated, soft-touch horizontal control panel. This panel hides tactile, translucent switches for climate and defrost functions, blending clean design with functional usability. Every 2027 NX model now comes standard with the LSS+ 4.0 driver assistance suite, which includes advanced features like traffic jam assist, proactive lane centering, and automated lane change capabilities.
