Building a European Foundation
Sany is significantly broadening its footprint in the European electric vehicle market. Following the successful introduction of the e263 electric semi-tractor, which began deliveries in Germany earlier this year, the Chinese manufacturing giant is leveraging the IAA Transportation exhibition to unveil a robust portfolio of derivative chassis models. By focusing on construction, logistics, and municipal applications, Sany aims to transition from a niche importer to a comprehensive provider of heavy-duty transport solutions.
Crucial to this strategy is the partnership with Putzmeister, the German concrete pump specialist acquired by Sany in 2012. Putzmeister serves as the technical and operational backbone for the Sany eTrucks division, ensuring that every vehicle is adapted for local European regulations and road conditions. This localized approach is further reinforced by a strategic alliance with Alltrucks, granting Sany access to a pan-European network of 650 workshops for maintenance and repair, a vital step in providing the total cost of ownership transparency that fleet operators demand.
The Flagship: e263 4x2S and 4x2R
The e263 series remains the spearhead of Sany’s European offensive. The original 4x2S tractor unit, known for its impressive 636 kWh gross battery capacity and 420 kW of continuous power, is now complemented by the 4x2R chassis variant. While sharing the same dual-motor eAxle modular architecture as the tractor, the R-version features a significantly extended wheelbase, reaching 5.30 metres compared to the tractor’s 4.00-metre wheelbase. This design allows for specialized bodies and trailer coupling, offering a gross combination weight rating of 38 tonnes, providing logistics companies with a flexible tool for regional and long-haul tasks.
The Heavy Lifter: e363 6×2
For operations requiring greater load-bearing capacity, the e363 6×2 chassis enters the lineup. This three-axle model is specifically engineered for heavier loads, pushing the rear axle load allowance to 19 tonnes. With a focus on swap-box bodies and logistics, it maintains the high-energy density of the 636 kWh battery found in the e263. It remains a key component of Sany’s plan to capture the 42-tonne segment, combining massive energy reserves with 400 kW DC fast-charging capabilities to minimize downtime.
Construction Specialists: e345/e360 and e435 8×4
Sany’s heritage in the construction sector is fully represented by the e345/e360 6×2 and the heavy-duty e435 8×4. The e345/e360 platform features a more efficient single-motor system, utilizing an oil-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor in an eAxle configuration. Designed for a 28-tonne gross weight, it offers versatility through three different wheelbase options. Meanwhile, the e435 8×4 brings the most rugged performance to the portfolio. Designed for demanding tasks like concrete mixing and heavy-duty tipping, this four-axle machine provides up to 37 tonnes of permissible weight, cementing Sany’s intent to dominate the electrified construction site.

Sany’s expansion signals a shift in the European electric truck market from early-adopter pilot programs to serious, industrial-scale deployment. By utilizing an established, high-volume manufacturing base in China while integrating with local European service partners, Sany is attempting to solve the "trust gap" that often prevents traditional logistics firms from adopting new electric heavy-duty brands.
