Each battery pack now offers 92 kWh of gross capacity, with an impressive 95 percent of that energy—88 kWh—being usable net capacity. This efficiency gain, paired with a newly designed front end that extends the vehicle by 120 millimeters for superior aerodynamics and improved driver visibility, allows the 6x2 configuration to achieve a range of up to 720 kilometers. For the standard 4x2 tractor, users can expect up to 660 kilometers, making reliable long-distance, emission-free logistics a current reality rather than a future promise.
2. MAN TGE Electrified by Flux
Expanding its electrification strategy beyond heavy freight, MAN is targeting the specialized municipal and emergency services sectors through a strategic partnership with the Swiss firm Flux. These near-series TGE transporters are designed to fill the gap for heavy-duty commercial vans that require higher gross vehicle weights, all-wheel drive, and specialized auxiliary power take-offs, features that have historically been difficult to electrify.
The showcased models, featuring gross vehicle weights of 4.0 and 5.5 tonnes, provide remarkable utility for demanding environments. Equipped with a 119 kWh battery, the vans achieve a range of up to 480 kilometers. Perhaps more critical for municipal operations, they support DC fast charging at 140 kW, allowing for a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 30 minutes. With a payload capacity reaching 2,500 kilograms and a towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms, these vehicles prove that electrification is no longer restricted to light-duty delivery, but is ready for rugged, industrial-grade applications.
