Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has reached a significant milestone in the electrification of heavy industry by delivering the world's first series-produced A30 Electric articulated haulers. The units were handed over to the Norwegian construction group LNS, marking the official customer debut of this battery-electric model.
Powering Sustainable Infrastructure
The new electric haulers are currently being deployed at the Hemsil 3 hydropower plant project in Norway. This transition to battery-electric machinery in large-scale construction highlights a shift toward zero-emission operations in sectors traditionally dominated by heavy diesel engines.
By utilizing the A30 Electric type, LNS aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its construction activities while maintaining the performance standards required for demanding environments like hydropower plant sites. This delivery represents a major step forward for Volvo CE as it scales its electric vehicle portfolio beyond compact machinery into larger, more specialized equipment.
