VinFast is making a bold entrance into the utility segment with the production version of the VF Wild. Initially teased as a pure-electric concept back in 2024, the final production model has undergone a strategic pivot, emerging as the automaker’s first Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). By pairing a high-capacity battery with an onboard gasoline generator, VinFast is positioning the VF Wild as a solution for those who demand the efficiency of an electric drivetrain without the anxiety of limited range.
The truck is engineered for the mid-size market, boasting dimensions that challenge established rivals like the Ford Ranger. Measuring 5,376 mm in length and 2,069 mm in width, the vehicle provides a substantial footprint that balances maneuverability with a practical load box measuring 1,574 mm by 1,512 mm. With a maximum payload capacity of 750 kg, the VF Wild aims to serve as a reliable workhorse for both commercial operators and weekend adventurers.
Technical Specifications and Performance
At the heart of the VF Wild is an electric motor outputting 160 kW and 280 Nm of torque. Unlike a standard plug-in hybrid, the internal combustion engine here acts exclusively as a range extender, serving solely as a generator to charge the 46.4 kWh LFP battery while the vehicle is in motion. This configuration enables a clean electric-only range of over 250 kilometers, with an impressive total combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers under the NEDC cycle.
