According to the driver, the vehicle was operating in 'Standard' mode when it accelerated to 78 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
System Failure in Standard Mode
The owner stated that the FSD system had been active for less than two minutes before the infraction occurred. A police officer traveling in the opposite direction recorded the speed on radar and performed an immediate traffic stop. The incident raises questions about the software's ability to accurately recognize and adhere to local speed limits without human intervention.
The 'Fix' Controversy
While Tesla has frequently updated its FSD software to improve performance and safety, users have noted that certain manual overrides or 'fixes' that allowed for tighter control over speed settings have been altered or removed in recent versions.
