The study specifically investigated the GLP1R gene, which dictates the body's natural levels of GLP-1 receptor proteins. By analyzing extensive genetic databases, researchers identified that individuals with genetic variants associated with higher levels of these proteins were inherently more prone to male-pattern baldness. This indicates that the medication might be tapping into existing biological pathways that influence hair follicle health, rather than simply acting as a byproduct of a leaner body mass.
