Leapmotor has officially expanded its vehicle portfolio with the launch of the D99, the company's first electric van designed for the Chinese market. The new model marks a significant step for the manufacturer as it targets the growing demand for multi-purpose electric vehicles.
Versatile Powertrain Options
The D99 is a seven-seater van that offers flexibility in its powertrain configurations. Customers can choose between a pure electric version (BEV) or a range-extender variant (EREV), catering to different range requirements and charging infrastructures. This dual-track strategy is increasingly common among Chinese EV makers looking to bridge the gap for long-distance drivers.
Pricing and Global Availability
Positioned competitively, the Leapmotor D99 starts at a price equivalent to just over €32,000. While the vehicle is currently focused on the domestic Chinese market, there is significant interest in whether Leapmotor will export the model. At this time, the company has not confirmed any plans to offer the D99 in international markets.
