The state of Illinois has announced the reopening of its electric vehicle rebate program, scheduled to begin on August 1. This latest initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of clean energy transport by providing significant financial incentives for residents transitioning to battery-electric vehicles.
Funding and Eligibility
The program has been allocated a total of $14 million for this specific funding round. Eligible applicants can receive a rebate of up to $4,000 toward the purchase of either a new or used battery-electric car. This flexibility ensures that the secondary market for EVs also receives a boost, making sustainable transport more accessible to a broader range of consumers.
Focus on Equity
Consistent with previous rounds, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is prioritizing lower-income households.
