New evidence from Scotland indicates Iron Age Britons may have engaged in funerary practices involving brain removal. Researchers found scrape marks inside a skull, suggesting the brain was intentionally removed post-mortem.
Alongside the skull, sharpened limb bones were discovered, implying additional ritualistic activity during burial. These findings provide fresh insights into the complex and unusual funerary customs of Iron Age communities in Britain.
