Solar storms, characterized by massive ejections of charged particles from the sun, pose a significant threat to modern civilization. These events can disrupt satellite communications, cripple power grids, and damage sensitive electronics on a global scale. In response, scientists are investigating the possibility of creating a 'shield' to protect the planet from these interplanetary weather events.
The Concept of a Space-Based Shield
