A comprehensive analysis conducted in Sweden has shed new light on the long-term durability of electric vehicle batteries. After examining nearly 10,000 individual battery tests, researchers identified two standout models that maintained exceptional capacity even after significant usage.
Exceptional Battery Longevity
The study focused on real-world performance metrics, specifically looking at vehicles that had reached the 62,000-mile mark. The data revealed that the top-performing models retained more than 97% of their original battery capacity. This finding challenges common concerns regarding rapid battery degradation and suggests that modern thermal management systems and cell chemistries are increasingly robust.
While the study highlights these specific winners, the broader data set provides a reassuring outlook for the EV industry, indicating that battery health remains stable for the vast majority of drivers throughout the typical ownership cycle.
