MOIA, the mobility service provider under the Volkswagen Group, has officially launched its autonomous ride-pooling service in Hamburg. This milestone marks a significant transition from testing to practical application for self-driving technology in urban environments.
The ID. Buzz Takes the Lead
The service utilizes a fleet of fully electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz vehicles equipped with advanced autonomous driving systems. For the initial phase, the service is available to a selected group of Hamburg residents who can book these self-driving shuttles through the MOIA platform.
The ALIKE Project Goals
This initiative is part of the ALIKE project, a collaborative effort designed to explore the logistics and user experience of autonomous public transport. The primary objective is to gather critical data and operational insights that will pave the way for regular, large-scale autonomous operations in the future. By integrating electric propulsion with self-driving capabilities, MOIA aims to provide a sustainable and efficient solution for modern urban mobility.
