Tesla has reached a significant milestone in the electrification of heavy-duty transport with the opening of its first full-scale public Megacharger station. Located in Bloomington, California, the new facility is specifically designed to support the infrastructure needs of the Tesla Semi.
High-Power Charging Infrastructure
The Bloomington site features six dedicated charging stalls, each capable of delivering up to 1.2 MW of power. This massive output is essential for reducing downtime for long-haul electric trucks, providing the rapid energy replenishment required for commercial logistics operations.
Advanced Connectivity
The station is equipped to support the latest-generation Tesla Semi models utilizing the specialized MC2 charging connector. This public debut marks a shift from Tesla's previous strategy of installing private Megachargers at customer facilities, such as PepsiCo plants, toward a more accessible network for future Semi operators.
