The Gist

Mercedes-Benz reports that 13% of its global passenger car sales are now fully electric, marking a significant year-over-year increase.

Mercedes-Benz Group has reached a new milestone in its electrification strategy, reporting that one in eight of its new passenger cars sold globally is now fully electric. During the second quarter, the Stuttgart-based automaker delivered 63,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to customers worldwide.

Growth Amidst Market Challenges

The latest figures represent a notable shift in the company's sales mix. Purely electric drives now account for 13 percent of all Mercedes passenger car sales, an increase of more than five percentage points compared to the same period last year. This growth highlights the brand's steady transition toward a zero-emission lineup.

Despite the positive global trajectory, Mercedes-Benz continues to face headwinds in certain regions. The company noted that China remains a particularly challenging market, where competition and shifting consumer demands present ongoing obstacles for the luxury manufacturer.
