Mercedes-AMG is redefining electric performance with the introduction of the new CLA EV, a four-door sedan that prioritizes power density through innovative engineering. The vehicle is reported to deliver a combined output of 670 horsepower, a feat achieved by utilizing a sophisticated tri-motor setup.
Axial Flux Innovation
The core of the CLA EV's performance lies in its three tiny axial flux motors. Unlike traditional radial flux motors found in most current electric vehicles, axial flux units are significantly smaller and lighter while providing superior torque and power density. This compact design allows AMG to package high performance within the CLA's streamlined chassis without compromising interior space or weight distribution.
By deploying three of these ultra-compact motors, Mercedes-AMG ensures precise torque vectoring and a level of agility expected from the performance division.
