Kalmar is seeing significant momentum in its heavy-duty electrification efforts, announcing four new orders for its massive electric reach stackers to conclude the second quarter. The company began manufacturing the ERG450 model at its Shanghai facility in 2023, a move designed to localize production for the growing Asian logistics sector.
Scaling Heavy-Duty Cargo Solutions
The ERG450 is a 45-ton powerhouse designed for demanding cargo handling environments. By shifting production closer to its customer base in China and the broader Asian market, Kalmar has been able to streamline delivery and meet the increasing demand for zero-emission port equipment.
These latest sales milestones underscore a broader industry shift toward electric solutions in the maritime and logistics sectors, where heavy-duty machinery is traditionally dominated by diesel engines. Kalmar's investment in Chinese manufacturing appears to be a key driver in making these high-capacity electric handlers more accessible to global regional hubs.
