Janus Electric, an Australian firm specializing in converting heavy-duty diesel trucks to electric propulsion, has announced a significant expansion in the North American market. The company recently secured orders from four California-based fleets to convert 67 trucks, a move that highlights the growing demand for sustainable freight solutions in the United States.
Scaling Operations in North America
With these new contracts, Janus Electric’s total North American order book has reached 112 truck conversions. These agreements are valued at approximately AUD 45 million (roughly US$ 31.5 million), marking a major financial milestone for the company's international operations.
By retrofitting existing diesel chassis with electric drivetrains, Janus Electric offers fleet operators a way to decarbonize their logistics without the capital expenditure required for entirely new electric vehicles. The company’s momentum in California reflects the state's aggressive regulatory push toward zero-emission heavy-duty transport.
