According to a new report from the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), China has solidified its position as a leader in the adoption of electric vehicles, particularly in the truck and bus segment. The report highlights the significant growth in sales of battery-electric trucks and buses in China, which nearly doubled for the second consecutive year, rising by 86% year-on-year.
Key Insights
The report reveals that China accounted for 88% of global sales of medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles in 2025, with sales reaching 457,300 units. The US accounted for about 40% of sales outside China, primarily driven by medium-duty battery-electric trucks. These findings underscore China's commitment to reducing emissions and its efforts to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the truck and bus segment.
