China has officially published a strategic action plan designed to limit and eventually peak its carbon dioxide emissions. A central pillar of this environmental roadmap is the transformation of the national transport sector, with the government setting a target for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to account for 30 percent of the total vehicle fleet by 2030.
Infrastructure Expansion
To support this transition, the Chinese government intends to significantly accelerate the rollout of essential infrastructure. This includes a rapid expansion of both electric vehicle charging networks and hydrogen refueling stations across the country. The plan emphasizes a dual approach, promoting both battery-electric and hydrogen-powered technologies to meet its 2030 targets.
Carbon Neutrality Goals
This initiative represents a critical step in China's broader climate strategy. By integrating alternative powertrains into the mainstream market, the nation aims to decouple economic growth from rising emissions, positioning itself as a leader in the global shift toward sustainable mobility.
