Volvo is reportedly weighing a strategic return to the sedan and wagon segments in the United States, this time powered exclusively by electricity. Following the recent discontinuation of its gas-powered S60, S90, and V-series models in the American market, the Swedish automaker is looking toward a future-proof revival.
A Shift Back to Classic Body Styles
While Volvo's current U.S. strategy has leaned heavily into SUVs like the EX30 and EX90, internal reports suggest that electric successors to the brand's iconic low-slung models could arrive as early as 2028. This move would cater to enthusiasts of the brand's heritage while aligning with its goal of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030.
The potential rollout would likely utilize Volvo's next-generation EV platforms, offering improved range and aerodynamics compared to their taller SUV counterparts. While official confirmation is still pending, the return of the electric wagon would fill a significant niche in the current U.S. EV landscape.
