Porsche has reached a significant milestone in its transition to electromobility as the final internal combustion engine (ICE) Macan rolls off the production line. The manufacturer confirmed that production of the petrol-powered variant will conclude by the end of July, signaling the end of an era for one of the brand's most successful models.
Focusing on the Electric Future
Despite the petrol-powered Macan maintaining strong sales figures—often outperforming the initial electric version—Porsche is sticking to its strategic roadmap. The company will now focus exclusively on the electric Macan, consolidating its efforts in the premium EV market. This move aligns with Porsche's broader goal to electrify a significant portion of its fleet by the end of the decade.
The Long Wait for a Successor
For enthusiasts not yet ready to make the switch to electric, the wait for a new combustion-powered alternative will be a long one. Current reports indicate that a new internal combustion successor is not expected to arrive until at least 2028. Until then, the Macan nameplate will be carried solely by its battery-electric counterpart as Porsche navigates the evolving automotive landscape.
