This move indicates that the brand's most advanced battery research will not be reserved exclusively for fully electric models.

The automaker intends to introduce three new plug-in hybrid SUVs featuring this next-generation battery technology. By utilizing semi-solid-state cells, MG aims to offer improved energy density and safety profiles compared to traditional liquid lithium-ion batteries currently found in most hybrid vehicles.
The MG ZS Leads the Way
The first model to showcase this innovation will be the MG ZS PHEV. Scheduled to go on sale in 2027, the ZS will serve as the pioneer for a broader rollout of the technology across MG's SUV portfolio.
