The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has been shut down to begin upgrades for its successor, the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC).
The HL-LHC will boost luminosity by a factor of ten compared to the current collider, enhancing particle collision capabilities significantly.
Despite conspiracy theories, the upgrade adheres to strict safety standards and poses no increased catastrophic risk.
