Researchers found that a rare form of liver cancer evades immunotherapy by luring and trapping immune T cells in nearby fibrous tissue, preventing them from attacking the tumor.
The FDA-approved drug AMD3100 was shown to release these trapped T cells, allowing them to penetrate the tumor more effectively.
Treatment with AMD3100 significantly improved the efficacy of immunotherapy in tumor samples, suggesting a promising new approach for this difficult-to-treat cancer.
