Energy In Motion (EIM) has announced a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to accelerate the adoption of electric heavy-duty vehicles across India. The collaboration focuses on the deployment of dedicated charging and battery swapping infrastructure tailored specifically for the logistics and freight sectors.
Building the Green Freight Corridor
Over the next 18 to 24 months, the partners plan to establish a series of 'swap-and-charge' hubs. These facilities will be strategically located along key freight corridors to ensure that long-haul electric trucks can maintain operational efficiency without prolonged downtime. The initiative addresses one of the primary hurdles for electric heavy-duty transport: the need for rapid energy replenishment for large battery packs.
By combining HPCL's extensive nationwide fuel station network with EIM's specialized energy solutions, the joint effort aims to create a robust ecosystem for fleet operators transitioning away from diesel. This expansion is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions within India's massive transport industry.
