A team at Cornell University has introduced a novel method to regenerate lithium-ion battery electrodes, aiming to extend the lifecycle of electric vehicle batteries.
This technique restores aged battery capacity to as much as 95% of its original performance, according to early lab tests. By regenerating electrodes instead of fully recycling batteries, the process could reduce waste and improve sustainability in battery management.
The approach focuses on directly recovering electrode materials, potentially lowering the environmental and financial costs associated with current battery recycling practices.
