Specialist Passenger Solutions (SPS), a brand under the FirstGroup umbrella, has been awarded a significant contract to manage transport operations for the Sizewell C nuclear power station construction site in Suffolk. The agreement focuses on providing reliable shuttle services for the thousands of workers expected at the site during its development phase.
A Commitment to Zero-Emission Transport
As part of the project's sustainability goals, SPS plans to deploy a dedicated fleet of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). This fleet will be uniquely composed of both battery-electric buses and hydrogen-powered vehicles, ensuring that the heavy transport demand of the massive construction project is met with minimal environmental impact.
The move aligns with broader efforts to decarbonize the infrastructure surrounding major British energy projects. By integrating hydrogen and electric technologies, FirstGroup aims to demonstrate the scalability of clean transport solutions in complex, high-demand industrial environments.
