Microsoft has announced that it will officially discontinue OneDrive support for older versions of Windows 10 starting next month. The move is part of the tech giant's ongoing effort to streamline software maintenance and encourage users to migrate to more secure, modern operating systems.
Focus on Modern Builds
The service termination specifically targets legacy iterations of the OS that have reached their end-of-life status. While older versions are being phased out, users on Windows 10 version 22H2 will continue to receive support until 2028, providing a significant grace period for those not yet ready to make the jump to a new platform.
Migration Paths
For those affected by the upcoming cutoff, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10 or upgrading to Windows 11. Devices that remain on unsupported versions will lose the ability to sync files to the cloud via the OneDrive desktop application, though web access to files will likely remain available through a browser.
