Mercedes-AMG has officially expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of a high-performance variant of the CLA. The new CLA 45 4MATIC+ marks a significant technical milestone for the brand, utilizing advanced axial-flux motor technology to deliver superior power density and performance.
Triple Motor Configuration
The heart of the new CLA 45 is its innovative powertrain, which features three axial-flux motors. This configuration allows for a combined system output of 500 kW (approximately 670 hp). The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system ensures that this power is distributed efficiently, providing the dynamic handling characteristics expected from the AMG division.
Versatile Body Styles
To cater to different market preferences, Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that the electric CLA 45 will be available in two distinct body versions. While specific performance figures such as 0-60 mph times and top speeds are yet to be fully detailed, the move to axial-flux motors suggests a focus on weight reduction and high torque delivery compared to traditional radial-flux designs.
