BYD Energy Storage has officially secured a landmark contract to supply 11.275 GWh of battery storage for Masdar’s Round the Clock (RTC) project in Abu Dhabi. This agreement represents one of the largest single energy storage procurements in the history of the industry.
A Global Milestone in Clean Energy
The RTC project is set to become the world’s largest combined solar-plus-storage plant. It integrates a massive 5.2 GW solar array with a total battery storage capacity of 19 GWh. BYD’s recent award covers the majority of this storage infrastructure, solidifying the company's position as a dominant player in the global energy transition.
By pairing large-scale solar generation with significant battery capacity, the Abu Dhabi project aims to provide consistent, reliable renewable energy regardless of the time of day, addressing one of the primary challenges of solar power volatility.
