1. Muse Realtime Avatars
Meta is moving away from the static, faceless AI experience by introducing the Muse Realtime Avatar. Powered by a new dedicated AI model, this feature allows users to conjure a personalized digital entity that they can engage with through live video chat. This development marks a significant shift in how users interact with their personal assistants, transforming Muse from a text-based utility into a responsive, personable presence that possesses a face, body, and voice.
During the reveal, the company demonstrated these avatars participating in live conversations, where they could be assigned specific tasks or questioned directly. While this feature draws on themes from the metaverse, its primary purpose is functional: providing a more natural, intuitive interface for human-AI interaction that feels less like a command-line tool and more like a collaborative companion.
2. Wearable Integration with Meta Smart Glasses
The vision for Muse extends well beyond the screen, with Meta announcing deep integration into its line of smart glasses. By utilizing a specific wake word, users will be able to summon their agent while on the go, allowing for hands-free assistance in physical environments. The agent can provide guided workouts, log nutritional intake during meals, or even assist in real-time shopping decisions by analyzing items the user sees through the glasses' cameras.
This integration is designed to run in the background, minimizing friction for the user. Once a task is initiated, the agent handles the heavy lifting and provides updates or completes the action without requiring constant oversight. This move positions Meta's eyewear as a critical hardware hub for the company's broader AI ecosystem, set to roll out in the coming months.
3. Desktop Autonomy and Professional Workflows
Addressing the professional sector, Meta is bringing Muse's agency to macOS, enabling the AI to control desktop applications directly. This functionality aims to mirror the capabilities of leading AI agents by delegating complex, multi-step workflows to Muse. Whether a user is managing a small business or tackling administrative busy work, Muse can navigate apps, perform operations, and maintain productivity even after the user steps away from their terminal.
To support this, Meta is also developing a dedicated email address for the agent. This allows Muse to be a functional member of a user's professional life, enabling it to join email threads or manage correspondence autonomously. This shift highlights Meta's ambition for Muse to act as a 'personal superintelligence' capable of offloading cognitive and clerical labor.
4. Ecosystem Connectors and Transactional Power
Underpinning the new Muse updates is an aggressive strategy for retail and service connectivity. By partnering with heavyweights like Shopify and Stripe, Meta has enabled Muse to interact with vast product catalogs and facilitate secure checkouts. With additional support for PayPal and integrations with retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Sephora, the agent is being groomed to become a high-functioning digital personal shopper.
Beyond retail, the platform is expanding into software ecosystems with connectors for Notion, GitHub, and Granola. Meta’s initiative to open the platform to external developers has already yielded over 1,500 applications in just one week, signaling a massive developer interest in building for the Muse platform. By incentivizing the creation of these connectors, Meta aims to make Muse the central nervous system for both consumer tasks and small-business management.
