Loganair Partners with BETA Technologies for Zero-Emission Flights
Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has announced a significant step toward sustainable aviation by securing five all-electric ALIA CX300 aircraft from Vermont-based BETA Technologies. The agreement also includes options for an additional five units, bringing the potential fleet size to ten electric planes.
The ALIA CX300 is designed as an all-electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTLD) aircraft, optimized for regional connectivity. Loganair intends to deploy these zero-emission aircraft across its UK network, with commercial operations currently planned to commence in 2029. This move aligns with the airline's broader strategy to modernize its fleet and reduce its carbon footprint on short-haul routes.
BETA Technologies continues to gain momentum in the electric aviation sector, offering both cargo and passenger configurations of its ALIA platform. For Loganair, the integration of electric propulsion represents a critical technological shift aimed at maintaining essential regional links while meeting increasingly stringent environmental targets.
