Swedish EV manufacturer Clean Motion has reached a new milestone in urban logistics by equipping its solar-powered lightweight vehicle, the EVIG, with swappable battery technology. The company has officially launched real-world trials in Stockholm to evaluate the efficiency of this system in demanding delivery environments.
Urban Integration and Testing
The pilot program utilizes the existing battery-swapping infrastructure provided by GoCimo. By integrating this technology, the EVIG aims to eliminate downtime associated with traditional charging, allowing for continuous operation in high-density areas. The trials currently involve various urban operations, most notably within Foodora’s delivery network, where speed and vehicle uptime are critical.
Solar Efficiency Meets Versatility
The EVIG is designed specifically for last-mile delivery, featuring integrated solar panels that extend its range during daylight hours. By adding the swappable battery component, Clean Motion provides a dual-energy solution that combines renewable solar power with the rapid replenishment of a modular battery system. This combination is expected to significantly lower the barrier for logistics companies transitioning to fully electric fleets.
