A breakthrough in preventive medicine has emerged from the University of Hong Kong, where researchers have developed an AI-driven blood test designed to provide an early warning system for cardiovascular health. Named CardiOmicScore, the tool can estimate the risk of six major heart and circulation diseases up to 15 years before they occur.
How CardiOmicScore Works
The system utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze thousands of proteins and metabolites within a single blood sample. By examining these molecular markers, CardiOmicScore can identify the risk for serious conditions including heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. Unlike traditional genetic risk scores, which are static and determined at birth, this AI model captures the dynamic biological changes influenced by a person’s current lifestyle, environment, and overall health status.
