Samsung Electronics Co. has reported a staggering 250-fold increase in profit within its semiconductor division, signaling a significant turnaround in its battle for dominance in the artificial intelligence sector. This surge highlights the company's aggressive expansion into high-end memory chips required for AI processing.
Closing the Gap with SK Hynix
The record-breaking growth suggests that Samsung is successfully navigating the global memory shortage and making meaningful progress against its primary rival, SK Hynix Inc. The latter had previously held an early lead in providing High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) to industry leaders like Nvidia.
Market analysts point to the persistent shortage of AI-optimized memory as a primary driver for Samsung's financial recovery. As data centers and tech giants continue to scale their AI infrastructure, Samsung's ability to ramp up production of advanced chipsets has positioned it as a critical beneficiary of the current hardware boom.
