Current safety standards are being re-evaluated to ensure that passengers can quickly and intuitively exit a vehicle during an emergency, such as a power failure or a crash. While Tesla vehicles include manual overrides for their electronic latches, critics and safety advocates have pointed out that these backups are often hidden or difficult to operate for those unfamiliar with the vehicle's specific layout.
