The Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) has officially completed a major expansion of its public transport infrastructure, finalizing the delivery of 73 battery-electric buses and 45 dedicated charging stations. This large-scale rollout is part of a comprehensive fleet renewal program valued at PLN 305 million.
A Diverse Fleet for Regional Transit
The new fleet consists of vehicles supplied by industry leaders Solaris and Irizar. These zero-emission buses are set to enter active service across four different regional operators, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the metropolitan area's public transportation network.
Infrastructure and Investment
To support the new vehicles, GZM has installed 45 charging stations, ensuring the necessary operational readiness for the battery-electric units. This investment reflects a strategic shift toward sustainable urban mobility, utilizing significant financial resources to modernize the transit experience for residents in the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie region.
