SpaceX has exercised its option to acquire AI startup Cursor through an all-stock transaction. The deal aims to enhance AI model development focused on coding and knowledge work.
Cursor and SpaceX have been collaborating to train a model leveraging SpaceX’s Colossus supercomputer. This model is expected to launch soon via Cursor and SpaceX's Grok Build platform.
The acquisition aligns Cursor’s expertise in software engineering with SpaceX’s computing resources to push frontier AI capabilities. Cursor had granted SpaceX rights to acquire it for $60 billion later this year or to pay $10 billion for their joint work.
