South Korea's two largest memory chip manufacturers have pledged a combined investment exceeding $550 billion to expand their memory fabrication facilities (fabs). This large-scale initiative aims to boost memory production capacity amid ongoing global shortages known as 'RAMageddon.'
The investment supports South Korea's strategic goal to become a leading AI technology hub by ensuring a steady supply of essential memory components. This move is set to strengthen the country's position in the rapidly growing AI sector.
